Chapter 49: The First Spar [Part 2]
The First Spar [Part 2]
Lane blocked it.
Clack!
The sound echoed through the garden.
Then they moved again.
Victor’s expression slowly changed.
Surprise appeared in his eyes.
Their speed was far greater than he had expected.
They weren’t simply swinging wooden swords at each other.
Every movement had purpose.
Every step was calculated.
Their feet moved across the grass with practiced precision.
Their swords collided.
Separated.
Then collided again.
Skyla’s green robe fluttered with every movement.
Her blonde hair whipped through the air whenever she turned.
There was a faint smile on her face.
She clearly enjoyed the sparring match.
Lane was different.
Her expression was more focused.
Her black hair flowed behind her like silk as she moved.
She didn’t waste a single motion.
One moment she was standing several steps away.
The next, she was already within striking distance.
Victor’s eyes widened slightly.
He had trouble following their sword trails.
That alone surprised him.
He had already reached the fourth level of the Body Tempering Realm.
His physical abilities had improved considerably.
His eyesight was sharper.
His reactions were faster.
Yet even with those improvements, the movements of Skyla and Lane sometimes blurred before his eyes.
That meant their martial skills were far from ordinary.
Victor became completely absorbed in their practice.
He watched the way they moved.
The way they shifted their weight.
The way they used their wrists.
The way they protected their openings.
There was an elegance to their movements.
They looked almost like dancers.
But there was nothing harmless about the techniques they were practicing.
Each strike was aimed at a vulnerable point.
Each movement could have been dangerous if the wooden swords had been replaced with real weapons.
Skyla suddenly spun.
Her green robe flared around her.
She brought the wooden sword down.
Lane raised her weapon just in time.
Clack!
The impact forced Lane back several steps.
She steadied herself.
Then she smiled.
“Not bad.”
Skyla grinned.
“You weren’t expecting that?”
“Of course I was.”
“You definitely weren’t.”
“I was.”
“You weren’t.”
Their playful exchange lasted only a moment.
Then both women became serious again.
They rushed toward each other.
Victor continued watching from a distance.
He had no intention of disturbing them.
There was something satisfying about watching two skilled fighters practice without holding back.
Even though it was only a sparring match, he could see the effort they had put into developing their skills.
Half an hour passed.
Neither of them seemed willing to give up.
Their breathing had become heavier.
Small beads of sweat had appeared along their skin.
Their movements were still quick, but the strain was beginning to show.
Eventually, Skyla stepped back.
Lane did the same.
Both lowered their wooden swords.
The sparring match was over.
They stood there for a moment, catching their breath.
Then Skyla noticed Victor.
Lane noticed him at almost the same time.
Neither seemed particularly surprised.
Apparently, they had known he was watching.
Skyla’s green eyes brightened.
She quickly straightened her robe and smiled.
“Good afternoon, Young Master!”
Lane turned toward him as well.
“Good afternoon, Young Master.”
Victor smiled.
“Good afternoon, girls.”
Skyla rested the wooden sword against her shoulder.
“How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough.”
Her eyes narrowed playfully.
“So you were watching us?”
“Yes.”
Skyla smiled.
“Was it interesting?”
Victor glanced at the two wooden swords.
“It was.”
Lane looked pleased by the answer.
She twirled her wooden sword once before catching it properly.
“Young Master, do you want to practice?”
Her voice carried a cheerful challenge.
Victor looked at her.
Then at Skyla.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
Lane eyes sparkled with excitement.
Victor pondered for a moment.
Then nodded.
He also wanted to test his strength.
Furthermore, he was really curious about the martial skills of this world.
Even though he had obtained the full memories of the previous Victor.
He had never practiced martial skills himself.
It naturally aroused his interest.
Victor walked forward into the open area.
Where the two girls had been sparring just moments ago.
He took out a spear from his storage ring.
Since his cultivation had returned a little.
He was able to use the storage ring now.
The previous Victor was a spear user.
So there were many spears in his storage ring.
The sword, spear, and saber were the three most common weapons of this world.
The sword was even more common.
Used by the majority.
Almost sixty percent of cultivators used the sword as their weapon.
While the remaining forty percent used other kinds of weapons.
Like spears, daggers, and more.
Victor had never used any kind of weapon in his past.
So he didn’t have any problem regarding weapon choice.
Anyway, he liked the spear more than a sword.
Holding the spear in his hand.
Victor quietly inspected it first.
It was a red-colored metal spear.
With exquisite designs all over the shaft.
It was a third-grade spiritual weapon.
That could enhance one’s attacking power by thirty percent.
These spiritual weapons were divided into nine grades.
The first-grade spiritual weapon could enhance a warrior’s attacking power by ten percent.
The second-grade by twenty percent.
And so on.
A ninth-grade spiritual weapon could enhance attacking power by ninety percent.
This was the benefit of spiritual weapons.
“Young Master, are you ready?” Seeing Victor take out the spear.
Lane said with a playful smile.
Her black eyes sparkled with mischief.
Victor nodded.
Although he had never used a weapon before.
He obtained the memories and years of experience from his predecessor.
Furthermore, the system had given him top-tier comprehension ability.
He could learn any kind of technique or skill in a short time.
His grip on the spear was firm.
His stance was steady.
He was ready.
Ready to test his skills.
Ready to grow stronger.
Ready to fight.
Victor held the spear in his hand and swung it a few times.
To his surprise, it didn’t feel like he was using a spear for the first time.
It felt as if he was a spear master.
The weight was perfect.
The balance was flawless.
His grip was natural.
In just a minute.
Victor was able to move his spear swiftly.
His body had already adapted to the weapon.
The previous Victor’s spear mastery integrated seamlessly within his mind.
Every stance.
Every thrust.
Every movement.
It all came naturally.
“Let’s practice then!”
