Chapter 123 - 121: A Near-God Method Suitable for Elves
This is a statistical report on the usage of the Gathering Spirit rooms.
To date, the Clan’s number of Gathering Spirit rooms has increased to thirty-two.
But even so, they are still in high demand.
The waiting list to use a Gathering Spirit room is incredibly long. Over a hundred Silver Tier combatants alone are in the queue.
The main reason is that the number of Silver Tier combatants in the Clan has grown too quickly.
The construction of new Gathering Spirit rooms simply can’t keep up with the rate of growth.
It was a bittersweet problem to have.
There’s no good solution to this problem at the moment, other than to slowly add new Gathering Spirit rooms.
The next document was about the allocation of resources.
The most significant part concerned the Cultivation Resources needed by the Warriors who had switched to the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture.
Nearly all the Silver Tier and above Warriors in the Silver Moon Clan had switched to the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture.
This included the Second Elder and Elena.
Basically, any Warrior who successfully absorbed and fused all of their Magic Power would experience a tremendous leap in strength.
As a result, the overall strength of the Clan’s Warriors had risen by an entire level.
The only problem was that cultivating the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture consumed too many resources.
The current number of people who had switched had already reached the Clan’s limit.
Until new resource channels could be opened, the Clan couldn’t afford to have any more people switch over.
It was worth mentioning that the person cultivating the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture the fastest was the Second Elder.
After completely converting the Magic Power in his body into blood and flesh essence, he soon reached the peak of the Second Transition of Force and was now trying to comprehend the Power of Law.
Everyone in the Clan was looking forward to it.
If the Second Elder succeeded, the Silver Moon Clan would have another Golden Peak powerhouse.
“It’s a pity only Warriors can cultivate the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture,” Eleanor sighed softly. “Casters have no similar meditation method, so our rate of improvement is much slower.”
Thinking of this, Eleanor’s feelings were somewhat complicated.
As a Caster herself, she felt this most keenly.
’If only there was a meditation method like the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture that could allow Casters to rapidly increase their strength…’
Eleanor quickly shook her head, dispelling the extraneous thought, and continued to process the pile of documents on her desk.
But in her mind, her thoughts continued to churn.
Behind the words and numbers on these documents lay the Silver Moon Clan’s century of transformation.
And the starting point for all of this came from that one person.
Eleanor looked up and out the window, her gaze passing over the arbored corridor to the west.
There, Anton’s treehouse stood quietly.
’I wonder what Anton is doing right now…’ she thought to herself.
…
The subject of Eleanor’s thoughts, Anton, was currently in another side hall of the Eternal Hall, sitting face-to-face with the three Elders.
The hall was silent, with only the faint rustle of turning pages echoing within.
Each of the three Elders held a tome, engrossed in reading, their expressions constantly shifting.
Shock, doubt, curiosity, ecstasy, amazement… a whole range of emotions.
Anton sat to one side, calmly sipping a fruit wine.
Upon learning that the Second Elder had reached the peak of the Second Transition of Force and was preparing to comprehend the Power of Law, he had immediately gathered some near-god methods from the Warrior path’s heritage in the Taoist Jade Scroll and brought them to the three Elders.
Mountain Suppression, Silver-Vein Golden Body, Wind-Feather Evasion, Profound Vine Locking Heaven, Clear Wind Body Transformation…
These were all near-god methods he had carefully selected to be compatible with both the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture and the innate characteristics of the Elves.
After all, with something like a Law, the more it suited one’s own nature, the easier it was to master.
If the Elf Race were to try and comprehend Laws like Curses or Corrosion, they probably wouldn’t awaken the Power of Law in their entire lifetime—with the exception of the Dark Elves.
By the same token, if Anton had chosen bloody near-god methods like the ’Blood Prison Devil Chapter,’ the Elves would get twice the effort for half the result.
After a long time, the three Elders finally finished reading the tomes. They glanced at each other, and all could see the shock in one another’s eyes.
“Anton, these… near-god methods… where did you get them?” the Great Elder asked.
“I found them in an ancient text. I thought they might help the Second Elder comprehend the Power of Law, so I brought them over,” Anton said, his expression calm.
Hearing this, all three Elders fell silent.
In all their long lives, they had never heard of so-called near-god methods that allowed one to master the Power of Law simply by studying them.
If such things truly existed, the Golden Tier Warriors and Casters stuck at the threshold of awakening the Power of Law would have gone mad searching for them long ago.
Of course, perhaps they were just ignorant.
It was possible that major powers like the Dragon Court or the Jade Royal Court really did possess such things internally.
But even so, it would be extremely difficult for outsiders to get access to them.
’So-called ancient texts… Anton’s excuses are getting so perfunctory. He’s just blatantly pulling our leg, isn’t he?’
Grumble as they might, the three Elders had a tacit understanding not to ask any more questions, and their gazes returned to the tomes.
Anton continued, “These Cultivation Techniques are different from the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture. They aren’t purely for tempering the physical body; they are more about helping a Cultivator sense a specific Law between Heaven and Earth.”
He broke down the concept of a ’near-god method’ in a way that the people of the Dawn Continent could understand.
“Take Wind-Feather Evasion, for example.”
Anton pointed to a section in the tome.
“One who masters this near-god method becomes as light as a feather and as fast as wind and lightning. They can weave and dodge within a tiny space or cross dozens of miles in an instant. At a deeper level, they can even grow invisible wings of air on their back, allowing them to turn freely in the sky. At the same time, by perceiving changes in the airflow, they can sense the movements in their surroundings. Everything within a radius of several hundred meters will be within their perception.”
“That sounds a bit like the Elemental Power of Wind,” the Third Elder said thoughtfully.
“It’s similar, but not exactly the same,” Anton nodded slightly. “If you had to classify it, this near-god method is more like a sub-Law of the Wind Element—Agility and Perception.”
The Dawn Continent’s system of Laws was complex, but all its variations stemmed from the same principles.
Agility and Perception were precisely the two most common sub-derivatives of the Wind Element Law.
The essence of the Wind Element is flow, change, and formlessness.
Agility takes from its property of ’flow,’ while Perception takes from its ’formless’ touch.
For a single near-god method to involve the rudiments of two sub-Laws was not unusual in the Taoist Jade Scroll, but on the Dawn Continent, it was already considered quite impressive.
Even if it couldn’t compare to an intermediate Law, it was definitely a cut above a lower-grade Law.
“The process of cultivating Wind-Feather Evasion is a process of repeatedly experiencing the characteristics of these two Laws, Agility and Perception. Once a Cultivator successfully masters this near-god method, they will naturally awaken the Power of Law.”
This was the greatest benefit of a near-god method.
One could follow the path forged by their predecessors, systematically understanding, comprehending, and mastering the Heaven and Earth Law.
There was no need to resort to various methods that relied on luck, or even risk one’s life to try and awaken the Power of Law, like most intelligent beings on the Dawn Continent.
The three Elders fell silent again.
In their past experience, awakening the Power of Law was achieved either through a sudden epiphany on the brink of life and death, through a long accumulation of time, or through guidance from a heritage.
The first two depended entirely on luck, while the third required a Legendary Powerhouse to teach everything they knew—an opportunity that was a matter of pure chance, not something one could seek out.
What Anton was saying now could be said to have completely overturned their understanding of the world.
But it was precisely because of this that they could more deeply realize the immense significance of these near-god methods.
As long as they mastered these near-god methods, the Clan’s chances of cultivating Golden Peak combatants in the future would undoubtedly be much higher than other powers!
The Great Elder took a deep breath, suppressed the churning thoughts in his mind, and turned to the Second Elder. “Axel, which one do you plan to choose?”
The Second Elder didn’t answer immediately, his gaze slowly moving across the sheepskin paper.
Over twenty near-god methods were written in the tome.
There was ’Silver-Vein Golden Body,’ which improved physical strength by refining all of one’s vital blood into a substance like silver mercury. When activated, the entire body would become as hard as fine steel, impervious to blades.
This likely involved a metal-type Law.
There was ’Mountain Suppression,’ which condensed all of one’s qi and blood into a fist, palm, or weapon. When struck, the target would bear a pressure several times greater than normal.
Those hit would feel as if they were carrying a mountain, their movements sluggish, even finding it difficult to breathe.
This sounded a bit like the ’Mountain and River’ Law from the nature category, and also somewhat like a ’Gravity’ Law.
And there was ’Profound Vine Locking Heaven,’ which allowed one to use their own body as a seed to sprout ancient, dark-colored vines from within.
The refined ancient vines were tougher than fine steel and could extend for several thousand meters. They could lock the heavens above and bind the earth below; once a vine appeared, no enemy could escape.
This sounded very similar to the ’Thorns’ Law that Leonard had awakened.
Each near-god method had its own powerful aspects, making it difficult to choose.
After pondering for a good while, the Second Elder’s gaze finally settled on Wind-Feather Evasion.
Agility and Perception.
These two characteristics were quite compatible with his combat style.
More importantly, he had a faint intuition that this near-god method might just be the key for him to knock open the gate to the Laws.
Thinking of this, he no longer hesitated. Pointing at Wind-Feather Evasion, he said in a deep voice, “I’ll choose this one.”
Anton nodded and took out a tome, handing it to the Second Elder.
The previous tome had only given a general overview of each near-god method’s characteristics.
This one contained the true secrets of the Cultivation Technique.
Just then, the Great Elder suddenly spoke, a rare solemnity in his tone, “Anton, this near-god method called Profound Vine Locking Heaven… may I borrow it for a look?”
Anton looked at the Great Elder and saw a rare trace of anticipation in his eyes.
“Of course, no problem.”
He smiled faintly, took out the tome he had already prepared, and handed it to the Great Elder.
The Great Elder’s Thorns Law was extremely similar to Profound Vine Locking Heaven.
Although he was a Caster and did not follow the path of Force, meaning he couldn’t truly cultivate Profound Vine Locking Heaven, he could still gain insights by analogy.
Perhaps it could enhance his understanding of the Thorns Law and increase his chances of breaking through to the Legendary Tier.
Anton had thought of this long ago and had written out the tome in advance.
Accepting the tome, the Great Elder couldn’t hide his excitement.
For a Golden Peak powerhouse like him, anything that could increase his chances of advancing to Legend, even by a sliver, was extremely precious.
“Thank you.”
The Great Elder looked up at Anton, a hint of emotion in his gaze.
“Anton, you’ve worked hard these past few years.”
Anton was slightly taken aback, then smiled. “It was no trouble.”
The Great Elder said no more. He just patted Anton’s shoulder and turned to walk out of the hall.
The Second Elder and Third Elder also rose and left one after another.
Only Anton remained in the side hall.
He sat in the wicker chair, his gaze falling on the tomes on the low table, his eyes glinting faintly.
The near-god methods were the closest things to the ’Law’ level that he could produce.
Anything higher would be Divine Techniques, which were a whole other level of power. Even if he brought them out, the three Elders wouldn’t be able to cultivate them at all.
This was especially true for Casters like the Great Elder.
They lacked True Essence and couldn’t walk the path of Force, so for now, Anton couldn’t think of any way to help them increase their strength.
In fact, he had long wanted to research a Cultivation Technique suitable for Casters, similar to the Eight Desolates Prison-Suppression Scripture.
This would allow them to also enjoy the benefits of a cultivation system.
But for now, he had no leads.
’Oh well, I’ll take it one step at a time.’
Anton stood up, put away the tomes, and walked out of the side hall.
Just as he stepped out the main door, his expression suddenly shifted. With a flick of his wrist, a Sound Transmission Talisman appeared in his palm.
A familiar voice came from within it.
“Canglan, is it convenient to meet?”
It was Scott’s voice.
