Chapter 519: Murderous Intentions
Heka reached the man and appeared a thousand times bigger than him, as he began to sweat and lightly tremble.
The transformation was not physical, but it was no less real.
Her presence seemed to expand, filling the space around her with an oppressive weight that pressed down on everyone in the vicinity.
Octavius, who had been so confident moments before, now looked like a small child facing an angry parent.
His bravado had evaporated, replaced by fear that he could not hide no matter how hard he tried.
The sweat beaded on his forehead, trickling down his temples and into his eyes, but he did not dare to wipe it away.
“If you want to mess my little girl up, you will have to go through me as well, violently,” Heka squinted, her deep feminine voice the only thing resounding in the hall.
The words echoed off the walls, with a weight that silenced every whisper. “I will let you do the honors, in fact.”
She pulled his own sword from the sheath on his waist, and handed it to him.
The motion was smooth and swift, as if she had done it a thousand times before.
The blade gleamed in the light, its edge sharp and deadly, and she held it out to him with an air of indifference. It was as if she were offering him a glass of water rather than a weapon that could end a life.
“You shall attack me with this sword with all of your might and strength. If I do not fall after one attack, I shall attack you with all of my might and strength. And if you do not fall, the cycle continues. When one of us is truly minced and beyond revival, the victor shall possess the prize. Without further ado, good sir, strike me…”
Her eyes were fixed on Octavius, daring him to accept her challenge, to prove himself worthy.
Okay, Heka just turned it into some blood battle over a lewd prize!
And Octavius is about to pee his pants.
What had started as a simple flirtation had escalated into a life-or-death confrontation, all because of Heka’s unique sense of honor and justice.
This is the kind of thing Heka, and many Amazons actually, like.
The violence and blood seems to be their way of communication. I had seen it before, in Verdant Spire, in the way they trained and fought and lived.
They were a people who thrived on conflict, who found some meaning and purpose in the struggle of combat.
It was not cruelty, not for them. It was simply who they were. They did not see violence as something to be avoided, but as something to be embraced, a language that spoke louder than words ever could.
But the author is just too lazy to depict all the dark parts, since they’ve focused more on the perverted side of things.
Ah, Eric and the others seem to have realized there’s trouble in paradise.
The elf and his party had emerged from the back rooms, their faces with confusion and alarm.
“H… Hehehe! Are you s-saying you will stand still and let me cut you first?! You won’t defend yourself with magic or anything?” Octavius was being very stupid and uneducated.
His voice was shaky, and he looked at Heka as if she were insane (though, he’s not entirely wrong).
His eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape, for someone to save him from this nightmare. But there was no escape or salvation.
He HAD brought this upon himself.
“I swear to you. I shall not cheat!” Heka answered, her eyes fierce… and a little manic, “It is a contest of warriors, something that has both our glories at stake. As a true warrior, you must not refuse.”
One thing was everyone’s attention had been gotten, so if Octavius did anything cowardly, it would greatly hurt his reputation.
The guild was watching, their eyes fixed on the scene, their judgment hanging in the air.
If he refused the challenge, he would be branded a coward, a man who talked big but could not back up his words. If he ran, he would be mocked and ridiculed for the rest of his life.
I mean, he did harass “a girl” and disrespected “her” partner.
The only way out of this is if he apologizes and be laughed at, or take the deal and die.
There was no third option or perfect exit. He had painted himself into a corner, and was facing the consequences.
But the fool took it deal, probably thinking an exposed Heka meant certain death.
He is a proud man, maybe a bit too proud to back down and admit that he had made a mistake.
“Please, we should rethink this!” Aladdin walked over to us, trying to address the situation, “Octavius, just apologize to the Amazon for disrespecting her.”
The entire guild suddenly went very ice cold, and some weaker people closer to Heka immediately collapsed from fear, frothing in the mouth.
The temperature in the room appeared to drop, the air growing thick and heavy as Heka’s presence intensified.
Her eyes were bloodshot, staring straight at Aladdin’s soul with wicked and murderous intentions.
The look was so intense, so filled with barely restrained violence, that it made even me take a step forward instinctively. I could feel the rage radiating from her, a palpable force that seemed to warp the very air around her.
Aladdin closed one eye and moved a step back; which actually was very impressive.
It was comparable to seeing a man close one eye and step back from a raging Siberian tiger a feet away.
Aladdin was clearly no fool. He understood the problem he was in, and he was smart enough to retreat.
He did not try to argue or reason with her anymore. He simply acknowledged the threat and withdrew, his hands raised in a gesture of surrender.
“Would you like to replace him, sir?” She said while her teeth ground, “If not, please remain silent while I deal with this my way.”
Seriously, I was about to have a say in all of this, as my dizziness was fading away.
My mind was clearing, my strength returning, and I could feel the magic beginning to properly flow through me once more.
I was ready to intervene and stop the madness before someone got hurt.
So I opened my mouth to speak, to call out to Heka and tell her to stand down.
But before I could get the words out, Octavius made his decision.
I guess today just isn’t Octavius’ lucky day…
