Chapter 550: A Day In Sara’s Life: Big Babies & Diplomatic Arrivals

0 Views 0 Comments

The Flamedeer is impressive in that it can sense the sudden absence of a presence as threatening as well.

If Lady Violette becomes invisible to the senses, it will know.

The creature’s instincts were finely tuned, its survival instincts honed by generations of predation. If something seemed off, if the world around it felt wrong, it would react, setting its horns ablaze and unleashing chaos.

However… she DID blend in with the environment so cleanly, the monster only looked our way for some seconds, its dark eyes scanning the savannah with cautious suspicion, before going back to grazing.

For a long, tense moment, I’d held my breath, waiting for the inevitable burst of heat that would signal it had detected something wrong.

All that remained was for Lady Violette to walk there and end its life.

She was perfectly concealed, her body molded to the landscape like she was part of it, her movements so subtle that even I would have trouble tracking her progress, if I was the one being hunted.

Victory was within her grasp, a clean kill that would prove her superiority over the other titan.

But—

“BOOO!”

Rahab yelled and the Flamedeer got startled.

The sound broke through the silence, sharp and sudden, shattering the carefully maintained illusion of safety.

Luckily, it only radiated some heat and fled, so there was no serious fire.

Its horns had glowed with a brief, intense light, but the flames had died almost as quickly as they’d appeared, the creature’s survival instincts suddenly overriding its defensive mechanisms.

It had turned and bolted, its thin but powerful legs taking it across the savannah, leaving only a trail of disturbed grass and the faint shimmer of residual heat in its wake.

“What did you do that for?!” Lady Violette yelled, her fist pumped, her voice holding the full weight of her fury.

Her dark eyes were blazing, her massive breasts heaving with each breath.

“I had a cold and sneezed, that’s all,” Rahab frowned and folded her arms, her yellow eyes staring at Lady Violette’s dark ones with defiant challenge. “What? Do you want to battle me?”

Her voice was cool and unamused.

I needed to do something fast.

As I immediately stepped in to quell the brewing clash, Nyx accelerated in a burst of speed.

She wrapped the Flamedeer in several tentacles, lashing out with deadly precision, plunging from her back.

The monster had its bones crushed before its horns finished igniting.

It had barely had time to register the threat before its life was extinguished, its body collapsing to the ground with a heavy thud.

“Lady Violette, please calm down,” I raised a hand, now standing in-between the two forces. “Rahab has to have her own fun, which led her to do what she did. Please understand.”

I could see the tension in both of their bodies, the contained aggression that simmered beneath the surface.

They still threw words and pointed at themselves, their voices rising and falling in a cacophony of accusations and counter-accusations.

But as I suggested we go deeper into the savannah and hunt some more, they both cheered up and became friends again.

The transformation was instantaneous, their hostility replaced by shared excitement, their competitive energy redirected toward a common goal.

It felt like babysitting two big babies who just happened to have been born 5000 years ago.

It was utterly exhausting, a reminder of the constant effort required to maintain peace among the powerful personalities in my life.

If they fought, it would be a massive pain to deal with.

And I needed my mental clarity to masturbate with the Benjamin-themed toys Deva manufactured for me.

And I suppose even those would soon become the object of the people, and not my personal entertainment anymore.

It was a bit sad, even if I try to ignore the feeling—a small, private pleasure of mine would inevitably be shared with the rest of the tribe.

***

Later in the day, the sun had started slowly becoming orange—the sky was painted in shades of gold and crimson, the long shadows stretching across the landscape—I was standing at the entrance of the tribe, waiting for the arrival of the Shishi-no-su delegates, when the mental connection flickered to life in my mind.

I received word from Elowen for the first time since she left Verdant Spire for diplomatic duties.

[Bold of you to disappear like that, Elowen. I take it you are having a time of your life in Shishi-no-su.] I started.

[Hm? Ah. Yes. Something like that] she sounded bored, and seemed to be speaking to a servant in the background about how the massage should be done. [More importantly, Shishi-no-su delegates will be arriving shortly, so please wait for them at the entrance. Bye.]

And she eagerly cut the telepathic connection.

“…”

I need to discuss some things with the queen.

Specifically, a change of diplomatic management.

After the telepathic communication, I turned my attention back to the entrance where the delegates would soon arrive.

While I stood there, with some other Amazon officials including Helanis, they arrived on the flying backs of three large wingless beasts that resembled serpentine dragons.

The creatures were enormous, their bodies sleek and powerful, their scales gleaming in the fading light.

On said beasts, there were constructs that looked like exalted saddles having four walls and a roof. The structures were ornate and elegant, clearly designed for comfort and status rather than practicality.

The beasts landed, their massive bodies settling on the ground with barely a tremor. The delegates began to disembark, their movements measured and deliberate.

As they had arrived, Helanis arranged for their beasts to be taken to the appropriate places, while the rest of us went to speak directly with their leaders.

There were a lot of beastkins, about 30—a diverse mix of artisans, mages, warriors, scholars, shamans, priestesses, cooks, and linguists. And maybe more.

The diversity was impressive, a cross-section of Shishi-no-su society that spoke to the importance of this diplomatic mission.

The Head Envoy seemed to be of the same beast race as the Beast Queen herself: a beautiful, purple-haired kitsune.

Her hair was a deep shade of violet, cascading down her back in silken waves, and her fox ears were tall and pointed, turning and twitching with alert awareness.

Her violet and dark kimono reflected her majestic status and high class, the fabric rich and intricate, embroidered with patterns that seemed to shift and change in the fading light.

The way she moved and carried herself… There was no mistaking it, this was—
